Teach For Lebanon looks for candidates with great academic achievement, leadership character as well as active involvement in their community.

 

Our Selection Process

Teach For Lebanon follows a rigorous three-fold selection process, driven by its dedication to recruit highly qualified graduates. Candidates whose applications pass the screening phase successfully will be invited to sit for a personal interview. Following which short-listed candidates will attend the TFL assessment day where they will be part of teaching sample (mock lesson), problem solving and self-evaluation activities.

 

Selection Requirements

Academic Achievement Applicants should have a high Grade Point Average (GPA) or any equivalent grading system followed by the university.

Personal Achievement Applicants should demonstrate having been part of extra-curricular activities (membership in clubs, scouts, other groups or NGO’s).

Applicants should be holders of a Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS) from a university recognized by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, or by an equivalent authority in other countries.

Arabic Proficiency Applicants should be proficient in spoken Arabic to be able to live and teach in underprivileged communities in Lebanon.

 

Selection Competencies

Throughout the selection process, applicants will be assessed according to the following criteria:

Taking a Proactive Approach Applicants should take initiative in addressing problems, challenges and difficulties

Leadership Applicants should be able to influence and motivate others in different settings

Perseverance Applicants should demonstrate experience in overcoming obstacles

Collaboration Applicants should be able to work cooperatively with people from different backgrounds to achieve a common goal.

Organizational Ability Applicants should be able to effectively plan and execute while bearing in mind the end goal

High achievement Applicants should be able to demonstrate a history of making a high impact, both academically and in other fields

Self-Critique Applicants should be able to objectively evaluate their performance in different settings

Flexibility Applicants should be able to adapt to uncertain environments and be open to feedback from others.

 

Assessment day

Applicants selected after application review and are contacted by email and invited to sit for a personal interview. Short-listed candidates who pass the personal interview will be invited to attend an Assessment Day, which will include the following activities:

Group activity/problem solving: applicants will be divided into groups and asked to act as school teachers and debate over related issues

Teaching sample (Mock Lesson): Every applicant will have to give a short sample lesson on a specific topic

Written self-evaluation: Every applicant will have to write in his own words an evaluation of his performance during the assessment day
