Educational Training
The Summer Institute trains the Fellows in preparation for their placement in the partner schools.
For the first year, Teach For Lebanon collaborated with the Lebanese American University to offer a program overlooked by experts which strives on a wide variety of instructional methods such as the following:
- Lesson planning
- Bloom’s Taxonomy
- Fundamentals of education
- Teaching methodologies
- Teacher portfolios
- Information technology
- Instructional media
- Creative teaching
- Teaching languages, math and sciences, and social studies
- Social justice
- Story telling
- Dealing with parents and colleagues
- Preparing an assessment
In addition to the educational dimension, the training tackles the civic engagement aspects, considering that the Fellows’ mission stretches beyond their classrooms. This is implemented through:
- Planning and implementing community projects
- Expanding the use of existing resources in a creative manner
